Every meeting we have attended and every relevant publication we have read over the past couple of months indicates that next year will be one of huge numbers of audits, mostly on Medicare claims. CERT, RAC, OIG and CGS prepayment audits threaten both your cash flow and your received income.

Here's a good example: at the last Jurisdiction C Council meeting, Dr. Hoover emphasized that supplier could not rely solely on the LCD for adequate proof of medical necessity. He suggested checking the Medicare Carriers Manual (MCM) (and all its updates), the Program Integrity Manual (PIM), and anything else that had ever been published about an item, in order to assure that we get everything we might ever need from the prescribing physician.
